Tuko the Great Dane x Siberian Husky mix at 2 years old—"We got Tuko as a puppy and he has been a handful, but a wonderful handful! My husband and I grew up with dogs, but were taught that anger and harsh punishment were the ways to establish and maintain alpha status. Thankfully Tuko lives in the moment and my husband and I found this resource so WE could be re-trained into calm and consistent pack leaders. What a pleasure owning and leading Tuko has become. He still needs some more practice and respect in certain situations but he has already come leaps and bounds in just one week!"
The Great Danesky is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Siberian Husky and the Great Dane. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
"This is Ellie, my Great Dane x Siberian Husky mix as a puppy at 3 months old. Ellie is a very energetic pup. She has the Husky energy but the Dane sense of humor. She is always trying to make you laugh. Ellie is more sensitive like a Great Dane and needs to be close to her family. She is a well balanced pup and fits very well into any pack. She is 32 lbs at the age of 3 months. Her coat is dense and soft much like a Husky's."
