Pekalier (Pekingese / Cavalier mix breed dog)
The Pekalier is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Pekingese. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
"I have a gorgeous Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixed with a Pekingese. Her name is Chansu Shanshu (which means a chance to live and die) and we rescued her 5 years ago from the Humane Society. She was due to be put to sleep because she would tinkle when she got scared or excited. We trained her to stop with love and encouragement, and she is the best dog in the world. She shares my pillow with me when we sleep at night. She travels everywhere with us; we bought a Suburban years ago to make sure we had room to take her, and attach a Club to the steering wheel so no one will steal the car! She has traveled to FL, SC, NC, GA, TN and VA."
