"This is Miko my Bichon Frise / Papillon mix as a puppy at 7 months old. He is an intelligent dog and has been very easy to train. Miko lets you know when he has to go outside by scratching at the back door. He responds to "no", "jump", "sit", "bye-bye", "paw", "eat", "go get your toy" and his favorite "treat". When he hears "bye-bye" he knows to run to the front door because its time to go for a walk. I would consider him to be a little feisty at times. When you tell him to do something he obeys but sometimes he might give a little back talk by barking. He is not a quiet dog by any means. He is a very verbal dog; he barks when people are at the door, and he sort of a howl sounds when he is trying to let you know something. He is energetic 68% of the time and other times he enjoys relaxing with the family. He doesn't like being alone. He loves to be around people. He rarely wanders off alone inside the house. He likes to sleep and relax right next to you. He is normally really furry like a Bichon unless we get him groomed."
The Papichon is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Bichon Frise and the Papillon. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
