"This is my wonderful German Shepherd / Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, Saida at 1 1/2 years old. She is extremely intelligent, licks anything with a face, and is hilarious. Everyday she has me laughing. Saida was born with bad hips, so she is limited to daily long walks, but both breeds generally need lots of exercise. She knows how to sit, lay down, shake hands, woof on command, spin in circles, and play dead at the word "BANG"."
The Rhodesian Shepherd is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Rhodesian Ridgeback and the German Shepherd. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

"This is Dana my German Shepherd / Rhodesian Ridgeback when she was a 2-month-old puppy. Her father is a purebred German Shepherd K9 police dog. He worked at Kennedy Airport. Dana's mom is a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Dana shows her mom's traits. She is very active and shows the crowns and her back hairs are already running backwards like a Rhodesian Ridgeback, but on a very spike like form."
