The sharp-shinned hawk is a small hawk, in the range of 9-13 inches (24-34 cm) and with a wingspan of 17-22 inches (43-56 cm). Weight is about 3-8 ounces (85-227 grams). It is known for hanging out at bird feeders. However it does not eat the bird seed, it eats other birds! The female sharp-shinned hawk is nearly twice the weight of a male.
