"This is my 1-year-old Brussels Griffon named Forrest. He is a red and rough-coated variety of the breed. He sheds very little to almost nothing. He is the most affectionate dog that I have ever owned. He loves to be held and petted. He is a very well balanced dog when it comes to temperament. He can be handled in any way. He'll play very well with children. Visits to the vet are very easy because he does not put up a fight for his shots. He loves his canine friends as well as his human friends. He's not a very active dog. He likes to go for walks and sit under the shade so that he can enjoy the view. He is a fairly easy dog, except for the grooming part. I will likely own a Brussels Griffon for as long as I live."

"My neighbor, too, has a Brussels Griffon. They both have the same soft and affectionate temperament. Both my dog and my neighbor’s Griffon are somewhat dopey dogs and are not very smart. They're just docile and loving dogs. Both dogs are very inactive. The breed shows a very close similarity to the Pug, which was used in the breeding for the breed."

DBI Tip: In general, but not an absolute rule, the smarter the dog the more dominant the dog tends to be. The less smart, the less dominant the dog tends to be. Dominance levels vary within every breed.
