Description

The Presa Dane is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Presa Canario and the Great Dane. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

Right Profile - A large breed, black with white Presa Dane is standing on a brick patio looking up with its mouth open and tongue hanging out of the left side. Its teets are hanging down as if it had a litter of puppies recently.

"Shiloh is a Great Dane / Presa Canario mix shown here at 15 months old. Her father is a purebred Presa Canario and her mother is a purebred Great Dane, so she's 50/50. Shiloh is approximately 30 inches at the withers and weighs 130 pounds. She is one of the best dogs I've ever owned, very obedient, we'll mannered, loyal, loving, and very protective of me and my children and our home. She loves to run, retrieve balls, swim, and just be around her family. Inside the house she's very laid back. Thanks to years of watching Cesar Millan, I've applied a lot of his techniques to training her and now have a happy, balanced dog."

Roman the Presa Dane at 8 1/2 months old—"Roman is maturing beautifully, now weighing 110lbs (49.8 kg) of lean muscle. He still has a ton of loose skin to grow into. Such a well behaved gentleman.

Roman the Presa Dane at 8 months old—"Roman enjoying this lovely weather. He is 28 and a half inches tall at the withers and weighs 107lbs. Roman has been on a mostly raw fed diet, prey model, against my vets advise due to the risk of salmonella, but I think the pros out weigh the cons. He's been on this diet since he was 6 weeks old and I'm very pleased with the benefits and results of raw feeding, He is a very healthy happy boy.

"Roman is a male Presa Dane, shown here at 6 months old. His mother Shiloh, who is also shown on this page is half Great Dane Half Presa Canario, and his father is a purebred Presa Canario. So Roman is 75 percent Presa and 25 percent Dane. At 6 months he weighs 78 pounds and is 26 inches at the withers. He is a very goofy, clumsy boy that enjoys playing with the children and being everyone's shadow. He's very lovable and intelligent. All around he is a perfect balanced pet."

Tucker the Great Dane / Presa Canario mix (Presa Danes) with his littermate—"Tucker is a blue merle Presa Dane shown here at 15 months old. He is 50 percent Presa and 50 percent Dane. Brother to Shiloh "shown above" Tucker weighs about 180lbs and is 34 inches at the shoulders at 15 months old. He is truly a gentle giant. He gets along great with other animals and people due to him having a calm, assertive pack leader as an owner. The Presa Danes are great dogs with great temperaments, highly intelligent with great guarding instincts. They are extremely loyal to their family. They do however need a firm hand in training, socialization, and discipline to become healthy, happy, and balanced dogs. They also are great in apartments if they get at least an hour if good exercise a day."
