Gonzo the Dameranian at 3 years old—"Gonzo was lively, curious and obedient. His job was to hunt and chase squirrels. He is a survivor a parvo. The best friend I ever had. He passed away on March 3rd 2017 doing what he loved best, chasing squirrels. It was an accident. The person was driving way too fast and he got off the leash at times. I feel like it was my fault, but I have to remember how much my heart has grown. All my dogs that have left have left a piece of their heart in mine and now I believe my heart is becoming like that of a dog; compassionate, kind, faithful, pure and determined. This is what Gonzo has left me."
The Dameranian is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Dachshund and the Pomeranian. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
