I’ve always wanted a mini or standard poodle but the family was flat out against owning a Poodle, being the Pit Bull, Bulldog types. Well my kids are grown and I recently moved to an apartment. My plan was to get a Mini Poodle, but when I met Zippy it just felt right. She’s awesome. Calm, mellow, submissive, curious and easy going. This is not only my first toy dog, but my first time living with a dog in an apartment. Zippy is a 4-month-old Shih-Poo (Shih Tzu / Poodle mix).
I was trying to decide of Zippy was a middle of the road or back of the line type and I a leaning towards back of the line. She seems to be a natural born follower. She does not just heel on a leash on her own but likes to follow behind me. She is not too sure about walking through doorways just yet and seems causious around things like cars with open doors.
When I stopped at a cross walk, she stopped on her own.
When I put her in the back of my Jeep she just sat there. In fact she seems to stay where ever I put her.
She rode in my wagon without any training. Not sure if she's just exhausted or if she's just this cool of a dog. I have to use that wagon to get items from my car to my apartment and if she likes to ride in it this is going to work out very well.
I needed to make up her dog bed, which is a human pillow. I put her on my storage bin and she just stayed there. Eventually she decided to go to sleep right where I set her.
She did just randomly stop and sit down when I was trying to get her to pee, but that's ok, unlike the big dogs, I can just pick her up.
She likes to sit on my lap. She's going to be an excellent lap dog judging from the way she snuggles.
