Gus the Black Mouth Cur at 11 months old-"I got Gus from a guy who hunts with this breed. He was a little too old as most folks want a younger puppy. Gus was 7 months old at the time, so I lucked out. Right away I had him neutered, vaccinated and chipped. Gus is able to be with me all day as I'm an artist and works from home. We run together 4-5 miles a day. Gus can cover ground more fluidly than any dog of his size I've ever seen. He is always on the lookout for game or a scent. This is a breed with a very active mind. When not hunting he seems to note my every daily activity. Loud noises don't seem to phase him. I've taken care to socialize him with other humans and dogs. Gus is a loving sensitive beast. He tends to take people's hands gently with his mouth and he really likes kids. Unfortunately he is still at an age where he suffers from separation anxiety if left alone, but I will grow him out of that."
