A wasp rarely bothers people, but has extensive borrowing habits and disrupts golf courses. The female hunts cicadas—paralyzes them and lays an egg on them to rear next year’s wasps. The cicada killer is very large, from 1½ to 2 inches long. Females are twice the size of males.
