"This is Kane. He is a mix between a Wirehaired Pointer Griffon and a Golden Retriever and because of this he LOVES, LOVES, LOVES going trekking with me. He constantly checks every square inch for any trail of rabbit, fox, bird, etc.

The colder and wetter it is, the more he likes it. No matter the terrain he glides over it effortlessly. Sometimes he will sit with me and enjoy the view, but not very often. He is crazy about swimming and will gladly retrieve sticks all day if he could. His favourite foods in the whole world are bacon and my mothers home made apple pie (he refuses to eat store bought).

He is an excellent guard dog, protective, audacious, but at the same extremely gentle with the kids and so very polite. He won't get on my bed unless invited. I did not teach him this. His favourite games are 'tug of war' and football. He was definitely a player in a previous life. He is so much more than a pet for me. I feel so sorry for people who don't love Dogs and I can never explain what it feels like when he looks at me and I know that he knows how I feel in that moment, without one word, or when he sticks his butt in the air and fools around trying to cheer me up when I'm down or just the way he likes to be near me, always.
