Border Kelpie

Australian Kelpie / Border Collie Mixed Breed Dogs

Information and Pictures

A medium-sized black, tan and white dog with large ears that stand up to a point, wide round dark eyes and a black nose standing outside

Rigby the Australian Kelpie / Border Collie mix breed dog at 1 year old—"Rigby was adopted from the shelter as a stray. It was those ears that sold her on us. She is approximately 18 inches tall, and has an ideal weight of about 30lbs. As soon as we brought her home she instantly became attached to the entire family. She has strong herding instincts and similarities to the Border Collie and Kelpie. She is a great dog and thrives to please. She requires a great deal of exercise each day, but is always happy to come home and cuddle for the rest of the night."

Description

The Border Kelpie is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Australian Kelpie and the Border Collie. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
