"Basti is a West Highland White Terrier x Chinese Crested mix. He is about 2 years old. We got him from an animal sanctuary. He has an awesome personality. He is very calm, patient, loyal, balanced and a great family dog with kids, cats and other dogs. He needs a lot of love and cuddling. If he is outside, his hunting instinct is noticeable with doves and ducks. He has little or no hair on his chest and belly. Everywhere else his hair is about 12 centimeters long. If you are patient with him he learns quickly and tries to do everything as best as he can. Basti is a good guard dog and barks if visitors are coming. He doesn't need much exercise, but is a great dog for jogging or cycling."
The Crested Westie is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Chinese Crested and the West Highland White Terrier. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
