Dingo Podenco

Dingo / Andalusian Podenco Mixed Breed Dogs

Information and Pictures

A wet tan red-colored fox looking dog standing on top of a rock inside of a cavern with water running through it.

"This is my dog Sandy from here in Spain. Sandy is a local breed, Andalusian Podenco mixed with the Australian Dingo. There are many, many dogs like Sandy here and they do all look very much like the Dingos featured on your website. Sandy is a really nice pet, with a very good temperament. He is not a big fan of water and whilst he will happily cross shallow streams, he does not like to swim and will not voluntarily go in the sea (a trait shared with Dingos, I see)."

Other Names
  • Australian Podenco Dingo
Description

The Dingo Podenco is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Andalusian Podenco and the Dingo. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

"Sandy gets on quite well with his cat sister (well, at least he likes her, even if she is not so keen on him) and is very friendly toward other dogs (a trait that I have notice in other Podencos). He is also very patient with children and overall is a superb family pet."
