The Italian Doxie is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Italian Greyhound and the Dachshund. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
"Penny is an Italian Greyhound / Doxie...so she is an Italian Doxie. She is 2 years young and weighs 17 lbs. My family and I saved her from a south NJ rescue center. She is the sweetest little dog. She goes out to the barn and visits the horses, and hangs out with her boyfriend Simba, our Pitbull puppy. She runs in the backyard all day with Simba. They are great friends."

"This was my litter of Italian Greyhound / Dachshund mix puppies. I think this one is one of the best mixes. The mother is an ITG and the father is a mini Doxie. Both parents are around 6-7 lbs. The pups are really nice. There is not too much of a worry about the legs breaking like in the ITG. They have a good mix of traits from both."
