Peppie the Labrador Retriever / Chihuahua mix (Labrahuahua) at 5 years old—"We have a Chihuahua/yellow Lab mix, (mom was the Lab). We rescued him when he was 3 months old and only 4lbs. He was sold to me as a Chihuahua mix but looked like a lab at that time. He's now 5 years old, 30 pounds. Nearly 22 inches long from neck to base of his tail. The girth of his chest is big, all Lab, that when he lays down he looks chubby there but he's not. We struggle to find coats and shirts that fit around his chest. Peppie is an amazing, very smart, loving but overly protective dog, he's got the growling and barking issue a lot of Chihuahua's are known for, only Peppie does it toward strangers, noise near our door, and it's a Lab bark and a large dog growl. He doesn't have the small dog chirpy bark. Other than that (which we continue to work on with him) Peppie is the most amazing and loving dog and we are blessed he came into our lives."
The Labrahuahua is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Chihuahua and the Labrador Retriever. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
Sukhie the Chihuahua / Labrador Retriever mix (Labrahuahua) at 1 year old—"Sukhie is a rescue dog. I got her from the animal shelter when she was 8 weeks old, and she is now a year old. She is very smart, friendly, playful, and loyal. She loves to snuggle, and chase a tennis ball (this is how she gets most of her exercise, she does need to run). She does many tricks for bites of cheese. My favorite trick is that she whispers! She plays with her squeaky toys a lot! She has a wonderful temperament, mostly relaxed but she can get a little nervous and excited at times around some people, dogs, and in the car. She weighs 35 lbs. She makes my heart smile every day!"

His colors are from the dad (Chihuahua) but his actually features are definitely all from the gorgeous Lab. At 5-months-old he weighed 49lbs. I'm so curious as to how big he will get. I never would've believed it was true until I met his amazing previous owners who let me see both the mom and dad. They said it was definitely an accident and both were very surprised since they had both of the dogs for years. He has brought so much joy into me and my husbands life."
