Staffy Heeler

American Stafordshire Terrier / Australian Cattle Dog Mixed Breed Dogs

Information and Pictures

A thick-bodied gray/blue colored dog with white markings, rose ears, almond shaped brown eyes and a blue nose laying down in grass

"This is Caesar our Staffy x ACD mix breed dog. He is one year old in this picture. He is extremely intelligent and has a rich loud bark. He is also an excellent watch dog. In this picture he has hidden his toys under the tree behind him and is like challenging me to a game of come and get them, which is his version of fetch. Our family loves him to bits and he gets the best of everything."

Other Names

  • Queensland Staffy
Description

The Staffy Heeler is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the American Stafordshire Terrier and the Australian Cattle Dog, also called the Red or Blue Heeler. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

(Note: the Blue Heeler is also called Australian Heeler, Hall's Heeler, Queensland Heeler, Australian Cattle Dog, Australian Cattledog and Australischer Treibhund.)
