Mattie the Chihuahua / Mountain Feist mix breed dog at 5 years old—"This is Mattie! She is a round-head Chihuahua / Feist mix. Mattie is very energetic, she loves to run around the yard and chase birds and squirrels. When I walk her I have to use a harness because she tends to pull on the leash. If she had it her way we would run everywhere. She loves to bark and is a great watch dog! Mattie is very smart. She can do numerous tricks and obeys well. She loves to cuddle when she sleeps and doesn't like to sleep alone. She can get along with other dogs, but is very territorial. It doesn't matter if its a puppy or a Husky, she lets them know who is boss. She does have a bit of a temper with strangers. She doesn't like loud noises or sudden movements. I think that is the Chihuahua in her. She has been known to bite, but only when she feels threatened or feels like someone she loves is threatened. She is very protective of those she loves. She has had some allergies, especially to grass. She licks her paws raw sometimes, so I have to watch her. I always knew she was part Feist, but I never really knew what a Feist was. I love my dog!!! I would love to forever own a Feist!"

Description

The Feist Chi is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Chihuahua and the Mountain Feist. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
