We used to have dog beds for our dogs some years back before Spike was born, but our cat thought they were litter boxes. Need I say more...?
We still have the naughty cat, but I decided to give the dog beds another try. So I ordered two new beds.
As soon as 13-year-old Puppy saw the dog beds he was excited and immediately laid down for a nap. Snuggled right in! But Spike...
...Spike did not know what they were...
Spike had a box to sleep in at one point, and a rug, but what were these things?
What ya doing, Puppy?
You want me to do WHAT?
In an attempt to show Spike what the beds were, I repeatedly patted the bed, pulling him in it, telling him to stay, saying gently it was his new bed.
Stay...
Stay...
Stay...
Once I even got him to lie down!
But it never lasted for long...
"Spike, it's a DOG BED!"
Update: Later that night...
Spike is lying down in his new dog bed more. He is starting to realize that the bed is not an off-limits piece of furniture, but something for him to relax in. :)
Update: The next day...
Spike slept in his bed all night. He finally gets that it is for HIM!
